MUSIC DEPARTMENT TOUR 2010:
On April 21st, at 6:30am, 114 Semi musicians in 4 performance
groups loaded up for the Music Dept.'s Spring Tour to Disneyland in
Anaheim California. They headed off in 3 coaches to SeaTac airport
in Seattle to catch two flights to Los Angeles. Then it was off
again to the Candy Cane Inn just blocks away from the front gate of
Disneyland. The bands performed 4 great shows for the general public
as on site entertainment and also experienced two recording studio
sessions with professional directors and technicians. In these
sessions our musicians experienced what it is like to have to learn
music quickly and record it as professional musicians do. The music
they recorded was soundtracks to Disney animated films. Our
groups were so well received that word quickly spread amongst Disney
staff. The message was to take breaks at our performance times to
hear our groups.
The Tour also included time in Los Angeles, Hollywood Boulevard,
Olvera Street and Venice Beach. Band members had time to enjoy the
park rides and attractions and as well enjoy the hotel swimming pool
and hot tub. We were so lucky. It was sunny for all the days the
band was in California.
Mr. Fullerton and Mr. Lowe are both so proud of all aspects of our
Tour this year. The hotel staff have said they would really enjoy
having us back as the group was so considerate of other hotel
guests. We also received similar compliments from coach drivers,
airline staff and Disney staff.
Remember our informational meeting for next year's proposed New
York Tour 2011 on Monday May 10th in the small Band Room starting at
7:30pm. This is special interest to parents of this year's grades 9,
10 and 11.
